Nestled in the heart of the Barossa Valley, Kaesler Wines has been crafting estate-grown premium wines from ancient dry-grown vines since 1893 and this month, we’re proud to pour some of their finest.
WOMS 2022 Vintage – 150ml – $25
Kaesler’s WOMS is a premium Shiraz Cabernet blend crafted from select old-vine fruit in exceptional vintages. Aged for 18 months in French oak, it delivers rich dark fruit flavours complemented by spice, cedar, turned earth, and dark chocolate notes.
Old Vine Shiraz 2020 Vintage – 150ml – $25
Kaesler’s Old Vine Shiraz is crafted from estate-grown vines planted in the 1960s and aged in barrels previously used for the Old Bastard Shiraz. Rich blackberry, plum and blueberry flavours are complemented by notes of licorice, espresso and spice, creating an elegant and complex wine.
Alte Reben 2016 Vintage – 150ml – $28
Alte Reben, meaning “Old Vines” in German, is sourced from a single nine-acre vineyard in Marananga, with vines dating back to 1899. This old-vine Shiraz displays dark-skinned fruit, blood plum and berry flavours with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and flint, delivering richness and complexity.
The Old Bastard 2022 Vintage – 90ml – $45
Named after the gnarly old bush vines planted in 1893 that form the very heart of the Kaesler estate, the Old Bastard is arguably one of Australia’s most highly regarded wines. These ancient Shiraz vines produce the kind of intensity and character that only centenarian vines can offer. Holding a Langton’s ‘Outstanding’ classification and consistently rated as a benchmark Barossa Shiraz, it is highly sought after by wine enthusiasts and collectors around the world. This is not just a wine, it’s living history in a glass.
